CLASS B PLAYOFFS
Kuboff & Associates 7, Accrohealth 1
Sam Mersing went the distance in the win for Kuboff in the best-of-three series opener at Cene Park in Struthers. Mersing allowed only an unearned run while scattering six hits, striking out seven and walking only one. Brian Penz had two hits and three RBIs while Joel Hake added a hit, drove in a run and scored twice. For Accrohealth, Levi Reed had a hit and scored the run while Luke Peterson had two hits.
Kuboff & Associates 6, Accrohealth 2
Hake picked up the win for Kuboff, striking out two in 12/3 innings of shutout relief. Hake led Kuboff with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Dion Felger and Shane Vitullo each had a hit and scored a run while Mersing crossed home twice. Joe Wilaj had two hits and had an RBI for Accrohealth. Luke Peterson had a hit and scored a run while Ty Wiery and Mike Montalbano each had two hits. Third-seeded Kuboff will face second-seeded Astro Falcons in the next round.
Toyota of Warren 5, Baird Brothers 3
Toyota of Warren scored three times in the first inning to earn a 1-0 series lead. Pat Carlozzi pitched a complete game to pick up the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits while striking out two and walking one. Carlozzi had two hits, one RBI and a run scored. Anthony Rohan had two hits and scored twice while Mark Colella, Jake Evanhoff and Ryan Brumbaugh all had a hit and RBI. Bill Goodall led the Baird batters with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Zach Thorpe had two hits and scored a run while Dan Macinga had a hit and a run scored.
Toyota of Warren 5, Baird Brothers 4
A three-run fourth inning triggered the Toyota of Warren sweep of Baird Brothers. Evanhoff picked up the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits in 51/3 innings. He walked five and struck out two. Tony Velasquez recorded the save, striking out Corey Deal with the game-tying run on third base. Brumbaugh had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run. Alec Pool had two hits and two RBIs while Steve Bott and Mark Seals each hit RBI singles. Colella tripled and scored. For Baird, Goodall had three hits including a double. Goodall, Tony Rupert, Alec Hammond and Julian Cox scored the Baird runs. Fourth-seeded Toyota of Warren advances to the next round to face top-seeded Creekside Fitness.
LITTLE b PLAYOFFS
Kuboff & Associates 8, Roth Brothers 2
A four-run fourth inning was the difference as Kuboff grabbed a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Luke Hilk earned the win, giving up two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out 13. Mitch Fyffe paced the Kuboff offense with two hits including a double, two runs scored and one RBI. Alex Gentile had two hits including a double. Trey Staunch hit two doubles. For Roth, Dan Kiester hit a RBI double while Vinnie Schoff contributed a hit and scored a run.
Astro Falcons 8, Toyota of Warren 4
The Falcons used a pair of three-run innings to take a 1-0 series lead. Dan Boerio picked up the win for Astro, pitching four scoreless innings in relief. He allowed three hits while striking out five and walking one. Vinnie Roberto had two hits and two RBIs for the Falcons. Luch Romeo hit an RBI double and scored a run while Kip DeShields and Tyler Recktenwald each had a hit, one RBI and a run scored. Will Price had two hits for Toyota, one of them a two-run double. Phil Fusco also had slugged two hits.

Canfield Adamas 10, Austintown Brilex 9
Canfield Adamas held a 10-3 lead through the top of the sixth inning and held on for the playoff victory. Ian McGraw had three singles and Dom Valesquez two. Nick Bianco hit two home runs and drove in five runs for Austintown, Joe Chepke had three singles and Robbie Russo added a double and a single.
