Fire department will host ox roast

The Mesopotamia Volunteer Fire Department will host its 40th annual ox roast Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the station, located at the intersections of state Routes 87 and 534, one hour east of Cleveland.

There is no admission charge, and the event will feature over 160 dealers and live entertainment.

The meat for the barbecue sandwiches is roasted on a spit over an open fire for eight hours.

There will be a large flea market, a church pie auction and other food and fun.

This event is the fire department’s main fundraiser, and the proceeds generated will be used to purchase essential equipment.
