RL Lipton strike is over

Published: Wed, July 3, 2013 @ 5:44 p.m.

AUSTINTOWN — Workers at RL Lipton Distributing Co. voted to end their strike today and will return to work next week, said Ralph Sam Cook, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 377.

The union members started their picket line on June 25 after negotiations with the company came to an impasse.

At the time, those on the line attempted to prevent trucks from coming and going at 425 Victoria Road where the business is located and operations were not severely curbed.

The employees will go back to work Monday.

The company distributes beverages throughout the Mahoning Valley and Ashtabula County.

No further details about the standoff, why the workers went on strike, and what caused the strike to end was available late this afternoon.
