LORDSTOWN — Sales of the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze increased by 73.2 percent in June, the highest increase for any General Motors vehicle in the month and setting a sales record for the vehicle.
There were 32,871 Cruzes sold in the month compared to 18,983 in June 2012, according to GM figures. For the year, sales of the Cruze are up by 17.4 percent with 133,689 sold thus far in 2013.
According to GM, June was an all-time record sales month for the Cruze.
“America’s families are better off than they were at the beginning of the year and they believe – with good justification – that the economic expansion is going to continue,” said Mustafa Mohatarem, GM chief economist in a statement.
