YBI to unveil fundraising campaign.

The Youngstown Business Incubator plans to unveil its five-year strategic plan and fundraising campaign at a press conference today at its West Federal Street campus.

The event will feature several of the incubator’s leading officials including Barb Ewing, chief operating officer; Jim Cossler, chief executive; and the incubator’s campaign co-chairman Doug Sweeney, president of Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC.

Last week, the economic- development organization JumpStart Inc. announced that young technology companies throughout Northeast Ohio attracted $201 million from investors last year, up 34 percent from 2011.

YBI’s announcement comes at a peak moment, not only because of JumpStart’s announcement, but also because it recently launched a new marketing and branding campaign that it hopes will attract more private donations and investments.

The YBI works to foster young software companies in an environment that retains other successful information-technology companies in a managed cluster, which differs from a conventional business incubator by creating an in-house support network.
