Stroke class offered
Alliance Community Hospital, 200 E. State St., is offering a free public luncheon and program titled “Brain Attack...Life After a Stroke” at noon Feb. 8. The presenter is Dr. Karen Gade-Pulido, director of the hospital’s Center for Rehabilitation. Doctor Lindsay Venditti, family medicine physician with Greenville Medical Center-UPMC, will present wellness lectures every Tuesday in February at 6 p.m. at the UPMC Horizon Wellness Center, 26 Conneaut Lake Road, Greenville. The lectures are free.

Relay For Life kickoff planned
The Lights of Love Ceremony to honor and remember loved ones who battled cancer and the Liberty American Cancer Society Relay For Life kick-off celebration are Feb. 12 at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way. The event begins with a rally at 6 p.m. and a luminaria ceremony at 6:45 p.m.

Free swimming lessons for women 21 and older with low- to moderate-income levels are offered at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, every Sunday in January and February from 3:30 to 4:30 and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Heart event set in Sharon
Sharon Regional Health System’s Heart and Vascular Institute’s third annual “I Love My Heart — Meet Me at the Mansion” evening for women is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. next Thursday at Buhl Mansion Guesthouse and Spa, 422 East State St.
The event offers women an opportunity to treat themselves to an evening of pampering, shopping, local celebrity fashion show, mini spa services, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and an update on heart disease in women and minimizing one’s risk for heart disease.

Health care program scheduled
Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., will present the program “What You Need to Know about Health Care in 2013” from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 9 at the church.
Guest speakers are Heather McMahon, director of the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative, and Felicia Alexander, director of the Youngstown Minority Health Department. The event is free.
The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering Adult CPR/AED from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at its headquarters at 661 Mahoning Ave. NW. The 3-hour class includes lecture, video and hands-on segments and no written exam.
