Man gets 16 years for child sex crimes

YOUNGSTOWN — William McCants has been convicted of 100 counts involving sex crimes against children.

He will be spending the next 16 years in prison.

McCants, a 46-year-old man who had previously been convicted of sex crimes against children, pleaded guilty to a 100-count indictment last year. He appeared before Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court today for sentencing. Judge Evens handed down multiple sentences with some running concurrently for a total of 16 years. McCants will also pay a $15,000 fine and register as a sex offender for 25 years after he gets out of prison.
