Man sentenced to 5 years in prison

Staff report

Douglas R. Wright, 40, of Hall Street Northwest, and also of Geauga County, has been sentenced to five years in prison on several sex offenses.

Wright pleaded guilty Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to eight counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, three counts of pandering obscenity-oriented matter involving a minor and one count of failing to notify the sheriff of change of address.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Cuyahoga County discovered in July 2011 that Wright downloaded child pornography onto his computer while living on Hall Street in Warren, said Diane Barber, an assistant county prosecutor.

Some of the charges also indicated that Wright used a file-sharing service that allowed others to download the pictures from Wright’s computer, Barber said.

Warren police served a search warrant on Wright’s home in August 2011 and seized computers. That search uncovered additional pictures, Barber said.

Wright is required to register with the sheriff in the county where he resides because of a gross-sexual imposition conviction out of Erie County, Ohio, Barber said.
