Two fatal accidents in Lisbon hours apart
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating two fatal accidents that occurred hours apart on the same road Monday morning.
Megan A. Thornhill, 22, of Lisbon, died after her 2000 Dodge Stratus lost control and hit another vehicle on state Route 517 near Davner Road at 7:38 a.m.
According to a patrol press release, Thornhill was traveling east before her vehicle went left of center and struck a 2007 Hyundai Accent driven by Tonia S. Lydia-Duncan, 36, of East Palestine. Both women were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Lydia-Duncan was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries while Thornhill was pronounced dead.
The second fatal accident occurred at 11:14 a.m. The state patrol said Eric E. Shepherd, 77, of Columbiana county was driving a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis east on Route 517 with passenger Barbara M. Burt, 75, of Columbiana.
Shepherd’s Grand Marquis lost control and went left of center before hitting a 2005 Buick Rendezvous driven by Amanda L. Noel, 27, of East Palestine. Noel was traveling with another adult and a juvenile, the patrol said.
According to a release, the Columbiana County Coroner’s office official pronounced Burt dead at the scene. Shepherd, Noel and her passengers were taken to St. Elizabeth. Noel and her passengers were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. There was no word on Shepherd’s condition late Monday night.
