Charged in theft
A second person has been charged with theft from the Struthers Little Wildcats organization.
Jamie Lee Depascale, 28, of Sexton Street in Struthers, was arraigned on a complicity charge Jan. 23 in Struthers Municipal Court.
Seven thousand dollars is unaccounted for, said Struthers Detective Jeff Lewis.
A former organization president, Lisa Farkas, 42, of Canterbury Lane in Boardman, was arraigned on six counts of theft Jan. 11.
Farkas was charged with the theft of $2,500 in checks.
A Struthers police report does not indicate how Depascale was affiliated with the organization.
Depascale will appear again in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. She is out on 10 percent of a $2,500 bond.
Farkas will appear in court for a pretrial hearing at 10:15 a.m. March 5.
Police arrested a 28-year-old Struthers man accused of stealing a car from a hospital parking lot.
Daniel Hunt was arrested Friday and is charged with felony theft. Police say Hunt is accused of stealing a car Jan. 22 from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. Online records do not list when Hunt is expected in court.
New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., is accepting orders for Smart Choice food from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7 and 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 11. Boxes include meat, vegetables, convenience meals, kids box, breakfast box and a fruit and vegetable box. Prices range from $22 to $36. There are no income restrictions or guidelines.
Preorder and prepay with cash, money order or Ohio Direction Card. Mail orders will be accepted until Feb. 8, with a payment of postal or bank money orders or certified check made out to New Hope United Methodist Church. To receive a receipt, enclose a self-addressed and stamped envelope. Online orders at smartchoicefood.com will close at 6 p.m. Feb. 13. A 3 percent handling fee will be added to all online orders.
Distribution will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Feb. 23. During the distribution, a community breakfast will be served from 9 to 10:30 a.m. For information, call 330-652-3625.
The Brookfield school board will have a special meeting at 5 p.m. today in the school auditorium, 614 Bedford Road SE. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a tax-levy resolution.
