A Poland native awaiting a third trial in the murder of his third wife is in the Cuyahoga County Jail after an emergency hearing Friday.
Robert Girts, 59, has been free on bond since 2008 after twice being convicted of murdering his third wife, Diane, in 1993 in Parma.
His third trial is set for August.
Investigators concluded that the 42-year-old woman died of cyanide poisoning.
No information was available Saturday about the reasons for Girts being jailed, but jail officials confirmed he was admitted Friday.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors had previously attempted to have Girts’ bond revoked after he was accused of threatening his fourth wife in August and in November.
He also was accused of moving without notifying court authorities.
Girts had been living with a relative in Poland, but when his fourth wife told police she was afraid of him, court officers learned he had been living in Brookfield.
He was later ordered not to have contact with the woman.
