Seventeen years ago, Thomas J. Seefred of Struthers created the Thomas J. Seefred Trust, a perpetual fund that awards scholarships to college students who have juvenile diabetes.
The scholarships are up to $3,000 to college students between age 18 and 25. Students must be completing a standard curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited junior college, college or university.
High school students aren’t eligible.
The scholarship is open to Ohio residents with preference given to qualified applicants from Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.
All scholarships awarded by the trust will be based on academic promise, a personal statement, recommendations and financial need.
Applications may be printed from the trust’s website, www.seefredtrust.org. Scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 1. Scholarship recipients will be notified after July 1.
