Just before Christmas, Operation “Santa Paws” packed its sleigh (truck) and delivered bags full of donations to three animal shelters: The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, Animal Charity in Youngstown and Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary in Salem.

In its fifth year, the community was generous in its donations. Bags of cat and dog food, treats, beds, blankets, cleaning supplies, and tons of toys were received from pet-lovers across the Valley.

“The Southern Park Mall and The Senior News teamed up with us this year,” stated Lynn Miller, Shepherd of the Valley Corporate Marketing Director. “Copper Zone Tanning did a great job as our collection point at the mall and the Senior News helped us to spread the word.”

“People were very generous,” Paula Blakeman, Shepherd of the Valley-Poland Activity Director and Operation Santa Paws organizer, said. “Pet Supplies Plus in Boardman collected for us and also gave us quite a few items.”

Operation Santa Paws is an annual drive spearheaded by Shepherd of the Valley-Poland that provides holiday cheer for animals.
