Penn State law school dean leaving for job in Asia
CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — The dean of Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law is leaving for a job in China.
Philip McConnaughay says he’ll be appointed the dean of Peking University’s School of Transnational Law in Shenzen, China, effective Aug. 1. His resignation from Penn State is effective July 31.
McConnaughay says he has a long-standing interest in Asian affairs and that his experience at Penn State has been rewarding beyond his expectations. Penn State President Rodney Erickson says McConnaughay “can take great pride” in his time at Penn State.
In November, McConnaughay had said the university’s two law school campuses in State College and Carlisle were pursuing plans to operate as separately accredited campuses by 2015. Penn State completed a merger with the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle in 2000.
