Warren's John F. Kennedy High School took the first step toward resurrecting its girls basketball program Thursday with the announcement that John Condoleon will coach the Eagles next season.
Condoleon is a 12-year Warren JFK basketball coaching veteran. He spent five seasons as an assistant on the boys staff and seven as the Eagles' boys head coach. Warren JFK was 90-67 under Condoleon and appeared in the district finals three times.
Warren JFK canceled its 2012-13 girls basketball season after just a handful of games because of a lack of numbers in the program. John Baytos had been the coach.
“The girls basketball program has had a strong winning tradition in the past," Condoleon said in a statement. "I look forward to the opportunity to work on building that program and bringing that excitement back to girls basketball at JFK. From the Lower Campus to the Upper Campus, we will continue our winning traditions, continue our 'blue' pride and build upon the family aspect that we have here at Kennedy.”
Warren JFK president Brian Sinchak said: "John Condoleon is a true Kennedy Eagle and his blue pride runs deep. He was a successful coach as part of our boys basketball program and he brings this experience and success to our new girls basketball program."
