Free tree plantings available to Salem residents

Published: Thu, January 24, 2013 @ 4:32 a.m.

SALEM

Salem Shade Tree Commission recently earned a $10,000 grant from the Salem Community Foundation to fund tree plantings.

The services of the Shade Tree Commission are offered to any Salem resident who would like free trees planted along the street in front of their house.

Interested parties should call the mayor’s office at 330-332-4241 and provide a name, address, phone number and the number of trees that may fit on the property.

The commission will choose the species of tree based on the street of the recipient. Instructions for how to care for the new trees will be offered to each recipient.

The commission has planted trees since 1984.
