$500K bond for Akron dad in son's shooting death

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Bond has been set at $500,000 for an Ohio father in the shooting death of his son as police investigate who fired the fatal round.

Bond was set today in Akron Municipal Court for 48-year-old Terrance Allen of Akron. He’s also charged with felony child endangering, evidence tampering and a weapons count in Jamarcus Allen’s death Wednesday.

The father flagged down a Summit County deputy, who found the boy in the family car with a gunshot wound to his head. The child died at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Police recovered a handgun from the car. Police are trying to determine if the boy got a hold of the weapon or was shot by someone else.

Court records don’t show an attorney representing Allen. He is in jail.
