2 dead in central Ohio fire

Published: Thu, January 24, 2013 @ 9:45 a.m.

BUCKEYE LAKE, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a husband and wife in their 60s died in a large house fire in central Ohio.

It happened early today near Buckeye Lake in Fairfield County, east of Columbus. The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office identified the dead couple as Milton Clagg and Mary Clagg, both 62.

Units from multiple agencies responded just after midnight to fight the blaze, which was made more difficult by frigid temperatures.

Other residents got out safely, and nobody else was hurt. The house was destroyed. The Claggs were initially reported as unaccounted for until their bodies were found later this morning.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
