A married couple charged with burglarizing a home while their children waited in the getaway car appeared in municipal court Wednesday.

Jacob M. Burchell, 28, and Nicole M. Burchell, 26, both of Niles, waived their right to a preliminary hearing.

The husband and wife were apprehended after a caller notified police of a man and woman breaking into a home at the 800 block of Lawrence Avenue on Jan. 8.

Police said they arrested both Burchells in the home’s kitchen while two “small children” sat in the rear seat of a 2001 Chrysler Sebring parked in the driveway. Police did not release the children’s ages.

Judge Jeffrey D. Adler set Jacob Burchell’s bond at $100,000, with a 10 percent cash surety. Adler amended Nicole Burchell’s bond from $75,000 to $50,000.

Both Burchells were bound over to Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for further indictment.
