Bomb threat disrupts routine at Warren school

WARREN

Warren City Schools asked students at McGuffey K-8 School on Tod Avenue Northwest to leave their backpacks at home today in response to a bomb threat the school district found Wednesday.

School officials found a note on a computer at the McGuffey K-8 School on Tod Avenue Northwest saying there would be a bomb in the building today, said Aaron Schwab, communications coordinator for the school district.

Warren police and a bomb dog searched the building, but nothing was found. Warren police were scheduled to be at the school today searching students when they come into the building, so to speed up the process, school officials asked students to leave backpacks at home, Schwab said.

A student who did bring the backpack will not be sent home, Schwab said.
