Warren woman bound over on felonious assault

Staff report

A grand jury will decide whether a 29-year-old Warren woman will stand trial on charges that she committed felonious assault on a 43-year-old Woodbine Avenue woman.

Testimony was given Wednesday in Warren Municipal Court regarding the charge, which was filed against Star Mallory of Linda Drive Northwest in the Nov. 25, 2012, incident.

Police said they were alerted to respond to Crest Lanes, 3390 Youngstown Road SE, for a large fight.

When officers arrived, the crowd had mostly left, with vehicles leaving in several directions.

Juanita Caldwell told police she was trying to break up the fight in the bowling alley parking lot when Mallory drove her car into Caldwell’s parked car, causing damage.

Mallory is then accused of driving her car into Campbell, pinning her against another parked vehicle. Campbell was checked by an ambulance worker for injuries but she refused to be taken to a hospital.

After hearing testimony, Judge Thomas Gysgem ruled that there was probable cause of a crime and bound the charge over to a Trumbull County grand jury for possible indictment.

Judge Gysegem ordered that Mallory have no contact with Caldwell.

If convicted of felonious assault, Mallory could get eight years in prison.
