Salem native returns for show

Jazz singer Tania Pshsniak-Grubbs will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at Salem Community Theater, 490 E. State St.

Pshsniak-Grubbs, a 1984 Salem High School graduate, lives in Pittsburgh where she is part of the music scene. She and her husband, bass player Jeff Grubbs, previously worked in Florida.

Pshsniak-Grubbs sang with the Florida Philharmonic and the Boca Raton Pops Orchestra.

The couple moved to Pittsburgh in 1996, when Grubbs landed a position with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Pshsniak-Grubbs has her own jazz quartet, The Tania Grubbs Quartet, featuring her husband on bass, Daniel May on piano and Roger Humphries on drums.

She is a four-time recipient of Ready for Life Grants, for work with young children through music and movement.

She has also been a featured vocalist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Civic Light Opera. She is co-music director of the Fairmont Hotel and at Mansions on Fifth, Pittsburgh’s first boutique hotel.

Pshsniak-Grubbs’ appearance is part of the theater’s concert series. Reserved seats are $10. Call the box office at 330-332-9688.
