Suspected American drones fired several missiles into three militant hideouts near the Afghan border Sunday, killing nine Pakistani Taliban fighters, intelligence officials said.

The strikes targeted the group’s hideouts in the South Waziristan tribal region, the three officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the news media. The identity of the killed militants was not immediately known, they said, but two important commanders of the Pakistani Taliban — including the head of a training unit for suicide bombers — may be among them.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s officials responded to the Oldsmar home Sunday after receiving a call from Jeffrey O’Neil and Jennifer Kovacs about the 16-month-old girl’s disappearance. Authorities say she was found unharmed at the home of a relative who took her after trying unsuccessfully to awaken the reportedly intoxicated couple.

Deputies said they found hundreds of snakes, lizards, rats, birds and rabbits being kept in deplorable conditions. They said the animals were being bred and sold without proper licensing.
