Event to educate on health care changesPublished: 1/4/13 @ 12:00
The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is providing its members an opportunity for companies to learn more about how changes to the nation’s health care law will impact them.
The program begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave. Registration is at 7:30 a.m., and a continental breakfast will be served from 8 to 9 a.m.
Recent studies indicate many business owners are unclear about what health care reform means to their companies. The chamber has assembled a panel of industry experts to help businesses understand the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare, the public and private insurance exchange, small-business tax credits, potential penalties for employers “and the impact of community rating to your company and employees,” according to a chamber statement.
The panel will include John Cooper of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield; Jim Rosa of Hill, Barth and King; and Atty. George Millich of the Youngstown law firm Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell. They will provide updates on the many recently proposed new rules and how to stay in compliance.
More than 100 people have registered to attend so far, said Nancy Kuzenko, account executive for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
“Anthem is being very proactive with local employer groups on how health care reform ... will impact them, and we will be sharing the latest details as more information continues to be released,” she said, adding Anthem will have another employer forum this summer when insurance providers should have more details and a better idea of the impact of Obamacare on employers.
The event is free, but is for chamber members only. To register or for information, go to the chamber website at http://regionalchamber.com/memberresources/eventcalendar/events/ jan9healthcarereform.aspx.
