Spit on hospital staff

WARREN

An innocent plea was entered in Warren Municipal Court Wednesday for Dustin Sayers, 21, of Hall Street Northwest to three counts of felony assault after he was accused of spitting on and hitting three people at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday. Two Vienna Township paramedics took Sayers to the hospital for unspecified treatment, but Sayers removed a blood-pressure cuff and intravenous tubes and pushed a nurse practitioner in the hospital hallway, then punched one of the paramedics in the leg, spit on him several times and spit on the other paramedic.

He remained in the Trumbull County jail Wednesday morning in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Police are still trying to determine who left a drunken and battered woman lying in the street on the South Side early New Year’s morning. She told the men she had been arguing with a man who subsequently hit her with his car. Officers said communicating with the 48-year-old woman was difficult because she was highly intoxicated. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center where she was listed in stable condition but combative.
