Ohio's US senators named to Senate Finance Committee

WASHINGTOWN — U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican, was selected to the Senate Finance Committee, joining fellow Ohioan, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, on the committee with jurisdiction over trade and tax policies as well as health programs.

Portman joins the committee after only one year in the Senate. Since 1981, no Republican senator joined Finance more quickly than Portman, his office said.

Also, Portman will retain his seats on the Budget, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the Energy and Natural Resources committees.
