Health, fitness classes
Mill Creek MetroParks will offer classes focused on health and fitness in 2013. Pilates will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Monday, and Piloxing, a combination of kickboxing and Pilates, will be from 6 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday throughout January and February, both at Pioneer Pavilion. Functional Boot Camp will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 12 and Feb. 9 at Yellow Creek Lodge, Struthers. For information call the MetroParks Recreation Department at 330-740-7106. Fees for each class may vary.
Fellows Riverside Gardens will host Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays and T’ai Chi on Wednesdays. Daytime and evening classes are available. The facility will also offer Yoga Basics at 9 a.m. Sunday in February and March. For information call Fellows Riverside Gardens at 330-740-7116.
The park will also host “Doga,” a yoga class for dogs and their human companions, on Jan. 13 at Pioneer Pavilion. The cost to MetroMutts members is $5 and $10 for nonmembers. To register call 330-702-3000.

Award for 4-H
The Staples Foundation has awarded the Trumbull County 4-H program $3,500 to be used to implement a 4-H stragetic plan and provide scholarships to 4-H members for camps and trips.
Trumbull County 4-H’s plan involves increased marketing, the development of an adviser/club mentorship program and enhanced support and communication for all volunteers and families.
The grant is part of a philanthropic initiative created by the Staples Foundation that allows Staples associates to direct funding to nonprofit organizations that are focused on education or job skills
Tree recycling to begin
Howland Township will collect Christmas trees for recycling weekdays starting Monday and continuing through Jan. 18. Residents are asked to remove all ornaments and trimmings before placing them curbside. Township residents also may drop off trees from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays starting Wednesday through Jan. 18 at the Public Works Department, 3600 N. River Road.
