Attempted abduction reported in Boardman

Township police continue to investigate an attempted abduction in the parking lot of the Huntington Woods shopping complex.

A 16-year-old girl told police she was leaving Gel Nails, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road, about 5:15 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle pulled close to her, blocking her path, reports state.

A man asked if she lived nearby, the teen said no, and then the man opened his car door and grabbed her arm, police said. The girl got away and ran back into the salon where she called police.

The suspect is described as a white man, age 45 to 50, clean shaven with short dark hair and light eyes. He was driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix, police said.

Man accused of crash into club gets bond

A bail bonding company posted bond for the release from Mahoning County jail of a 45-year-old Las Vegas truck driver, who is charged with driving his tractor-trailer rig into the back of Club 76 in Austintown on Nov. 24.

The bond was posted for Suren Aramyan after Judge Lou A. D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court granted on Monday a defense motion to reduce Aramyan’s bond from the $2.5 million set at his initial appearance in Austintown court to $45,000.

Judge D’Apolito’s judgment entry reducing the bond said Aramyan agreed to waive his speedy trial rights on the felonious assault and vandalism charges lodged against him and to waive “any extradition, if necessary, from Nevada.”

The prosecution seeks forfeiture of the rig.
