American Girl Fashion Shows seeking models

Staff report

Models are being sought to participate in four American Girl Fashion Shows planned for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. April 20 and 21 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.

Proceeds from the shows, being coordinated by the Kids’ Crew of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, will benefit local programs and services at the hospital.

The Kids’ Crew is seeking local girls who are a size 6x or 10 to model fashions provided by American Girl in the shows. There will be a limited number of modeling opportunities for girls of other sizes, but models must buy their own outfits from a list of pre-approved selections.

About 50 models are needed for each of the four fashion shows. Models will be selected based on poise, confidence, stage presence and resemblance to an American Girl Æ Doll. Visit

Girls must attend one of the model calls to be considered. Sessions are planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 4 p.m. March 9, all in the community room on the first floor of Building C on the Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market St.

Potential models must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a completed application form and full-length photo. Materials can be accessed at or by calling 330-746-8712.

Contemporary “My American Girl” outfits for older girls and “Bitty Baby” fashions also will be shown.

The events will include refreshments with a tea party theme, favors, door prizes and raffles of American Girl merchandise. Tickets are $25 a person; call 330-746-8712 or visit Sponsorships, program book ads and VIP family tables also are available.
