Boardman teen charged with false kidnapping report

Published: Wed, February 27, 2013 @ 11:21 p.m.

BOARDMAN

An 18-year-old now faces charges of making false alarms after reporting to Boardman police that he had been kidnapped and assaulted Friday.

Police charged Darius Tyrell Jones, 364 Mathews Road, on Tuesday. He was released from custody pending his court date today in Mahoning County Court.

Jones told police on Friday that he had been walking on Mathews Road when two men in a red pickup truck pulled up next to him and forced him into a vehicle. He also said the passenger in the vehicle punched his face as the truck traveled west, before pushing him out of the vehicle on Southern Boulevard.

Subsequent investigation by police determined this was false.
