The McDonald Board of Education has agreed to hire village police officers at $25 an hour to patrol the school campus daily.
Schools Superintendent Ken Halbert announced last week that the district had started using police officers to patrol the high school and Roosevelt Elementary School on Feb. 11.
The board signed off on the agreement at its Wednesday meeting.
Police Chief Lou Ronghi said the board decided against arming teachers to increase security.
Campus patrol officers from the village police department are Dan O’Donnell, Dan Superak, Ryan Ronghi and Jared Monaco.
In other business, the board also approved one-year sprinkler and back flow contracts with S.A. Comunale, Warren.
Roosevelt Elementary school inspection will cost $200 for a year, and McDonald high school inspection, which will include fire alarm sensitivity testing, will cost $1,245 for the year.
The company tests one time a year, treasurer Bill Johnson said.
Also approved was an Earth Link/E-Rate Contract for two years at a cost of $367 a month for local and long distance phone services and e-rate accounts.
The district gets a 40 percent discount under an E-rate Grant, funded by additional charges on individual home-phone number bills.
A new contract with Northeast Ohio Management Information Network and AT&T for Internet connectivity was approved for a cost of $16,205 a year for July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2018.
The board also approved the following teachers to instruct the after-school intervention program for Roosevelt Elementary for the school year, at a rate of $18.50 an hour: Patti Worrell, Erin Rogers, Marilyn Kelly, Matt Vukovic,Michele O’Leary, Linda Metzinger, Andrea Mason,Natalie Schadl, Katie Hart, Patrice Simmons, Rob Hilbun, Dana Larson and Allyson Jones.
A school calendar for the 2013-14 school year includes Aug. 26 as the first day for students; the last day for students will be May 30.
