TV star Ed O’Neill to receive an honorary YSU degree

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown native and television star Ed O’Neill, who is currently featured in the hit show Modern Family, will receive an honorary Doctor of Arts degree at Youngstown State University’s spring commencement 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, in Beeghly Center on the YSU campus.

About 1,000 undergraduate students will receive diplomas at the ceremony. To ensure adequate seating and to best accommodate the increasing number of those wishing to attend commencement exercises, tickets will be required for entry. Each graduate to be awarded a degree will be allotted tickets. More details will be forthcoming.

YSU President Cynthia E. Anderson, who retires June 30, will speak at the graduate commencement, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, also in Beeghly Center. Nearly 200 graduate students will receive degrees. Due to the smaller number of students receiving graduate diplomas, tickets are not required for the afternoon ceremony.
