Shooting spree across Calif county leaves 4 dead

TUSTIN, Calif. (AP) — Southern California law enforcement authorities have identified the gunman in an unexplained shooting rampage as a 20-year-old unemployed part-time student.

Tustin police Chief Scott Jordan says Ali Syed lived at the Ladera Ranch residence where the first victim was slain.

Orange County sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino says that victim is a young woman in her 20s who has not been identified and is not related to the shooter.

The rampage early today left three victims dead and several wounded. The shooter killed himself.

The most troubling issue here, as well as in other shootings is the age of the shooter. He was under 21 and in most cases other shooters were under the age of 21. This means the shooters obtained their firearms from others or by ignoring laws and background checks required by law. No one under the age of 21 can purchase a handgun, but they are doing it and they are getting their hands on guns. Now tell me that passing more laws will stop this! It won't!

We are going in the wrong direction. In our maddening attempt to stop killer children that others have raised, spoiled and put out into society, we are attempting to take away the rights of all citizens in America. What we are hearing is parents have failed in raising their kids, so now the rest of society must pay the price. I'm getting sick and tired of having to pay for this over and over again, and then hear that it is not enough, so they have to take more from us. Why don't we start charging the families and the parents of those who are in trouble? If they can't pay, throw them in jail. Those who can't stay in school. Those who don't carry insurance. Those who shoot their guns into other people's homes or cars. Why do I always have to pay? I didn't do it...my kids didn't do it...no one in my family did it, but yet, we end up paying for it!

Vindy, I don't disagree with your point about failed parenting, however, you repeat over and over about what you have had to pay. What exactly have you paid?
