The Boardman boys indoor track team competed at Youngstown State University on Feb. 3 at the new WATTS Center on campus. The meet was the second of the season for the team.

Highlighting the Spartans’ success was Mark Hadley, setting a new BHS indoor track record in the 1600, placing first at a time of 4:22. The time qualifies Hadley for his second consecutive trip to The New Balance Indoor National Meet held in New York City in March. Hadley also finished second in the 800 in a time of 1:59.

Nathan Jones finished third in the 60-meter dash in 7:08. In the 1600, Nathan Hadley placed 16th in a time of 4:45 and Justin Maroni placed 20th overall in a time of 4:49. The 4x800 meter relay team of Nathan Hadley, Adam Deeley, Andrew Gable and Pete Stafford placed fourth. Freshman Brendon Lucas and Gable were 21st and 24th overall in the 400, with times of 57:07 and 57:44, respectively.

Senior Will Birchfield placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8:82. He was followed by junior Jeff Bean in eighth place in a time of 8:99.
