YOUNGSTOWN
The city school board passed a resolution Tuesday supporting a 12-year, 100 percent tax abatement to The Gatta Company LLC for the remodeling of the Federal Building.
The building at 100 W. Federal St. houses V2 Wine Bar Trattoria, apartments and a few small businesses.
Also, two board members gave member Lock P. Beachum Sr. a certificate from the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, recognizing his 15 years on the school board.

Wow! They went from giving tax breaks to projects like Salt Springs Road and VM. Which employees 1000 of people and bring in millions to to our area - to handing tax breaks out like candy. Wonder what the job creation for this project will be.
They have the tax money of the peons and idiots that live and/or work in the city to give away like Halloween candy. ...Posted from my computer where my RITA taxes are partially done. I feel so violated after I pay Youngstown taxes.
Can I get a 12 yr. 100% tax abatement to renovate my house??? I have a couple college kids living upstairs and run a business out of my basement.
Wow, no taxes and these restaurant businesses get away with paying people less than minimum wage. That's a pretty sweet deal.
Big city politics at work.
It ain't what you know
but who you know
that wins the prize.
WHY??!!
12 years? 100%? Are you kidding us?
Are you telling me Gatta would somehow not be moving forward with plans for that building without an abatement? And seriously.. 12 YEARS? 2 years might even be a stretch.. was 2 not an option? How about 3? Maybe 4? 5? 6? 7? 8..9..10..11?
The district is in fiscal emergency. This is ridiculous and makes no sense. Between handouts, no interest loans and tax abatements, Dom Gatta is making off like a bandit.
the headline should read BOC not BOE
