YOUNGSTOWN — Kick-off of the annual Harvest for Hunger campaign is Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, 2805 Salt Springs Road.
Harvest for Hunger is a food and funds drive effort in March to help stock food bank shelves for the summer months when donations taper off. All funds raised and food collected stays in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
People and organizations interested in participating in Harvest for Hunger by conducting a food or funds drive are asked to call Rita Brady at 330-792-5522, ext. 11 or visit www.mahoningvalleysecondharvest.org to download a registration form.
Contributions may also be made at Giant Eagle and Sparkle Markets stores by tearing off a $1, $5, or $10 coupon at the register or dropping off a nonperishable food donation at the front of the store.
Monetary donations made at Giant Eagle and Sparkle Markets are added directly to shoppers’ grocery bill.
