Energy jobs fair
The Ohio Oil and Gas Association and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host an energy jobs fair April 29 at the Boardman Holiday Inn, 7410 South Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
U.S. Sen Rob Portman, R-Ohio, also will be on hand.
To better prepare a new wave of American workers, Portman worked closely with Ohio’s colleges and career-tech centers, employers and students, including at nearby Eastern Gateway Community College, to draft and introduce a career bill.
The bipartisan bill will help ensure federal job-training dollars are used to equip workers with industry-recognized and regionally relevant credentials. It will help the unemployed build careers in the oil and natural-gas industry and better leverage taxpayer dollars in doing so.
