YSU’s honors society chapter recognized for 9th-straight year
For the ninth-consecutive year, Youngstown State University’s Kappa Xi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi has been named a Superior Chapter for excellence in academics, professionalism and leadership due to the leadership of its student officers and the dedication of its faculty advisers and students.
Beta Alpha Psi is an international honors society for financial information students and professionals that strives to expose students to all aspects of the professions via speakers, technical meetings, visits to firms and companies, an annual banquet and attendance at regional and national conferences.
Beta Alpha Psi students from YSU have placed in both national and regional Beta Alpha Psi best-practices competitions.
Many of the BAP members participate in community projects such as the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program that serves more than 500 taxpayers each year. Other community-service projects include tutoring YSU students in accounting and finance subjects, participating in the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants Accounting for Kids Day and taking part in Junior Achievement classroom activities.
BAP members also present financial literacy topics to university and community audiences and provide introductory income tax preparation lessons to high school students.
