Registration for children entering Poland Local Schools kindergarten this fall will be held March 2 and 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Both kindergarten registrations will be held at Union Elementary School. Children presently enrolled in kindergarten do not need to register for first grade.
Attendance will be determined based on enrollment numbers. There are no guarantees as to which school students will attend in the fall.
In addition to kindergarten registration, preschool and after-school care programs registration will be available. Registration for new students, entering Poland Schools next fall, in grades first through fourth will also be at this time.
It is imperative that parents or guardians bring the following information at the time of the registration:
• The child’s original, raised seal, birth certificate and Social Security card
• The child’s immunization records
• Proof of residence (mortgage documents, house closing papers, or rental agreement)
• Parent identification (driver’s license and two current utility bills or credit card statements)
• If applicable, custody papers
Registration will not be available without these items.
A child entering kindergarten must be 5 by Aug. 1 to be eligible for admission. Those entering first grade must be 6 by Aug. 1. If your child attended another school for kindergarten and has a birthday after Aug. 1, you will be referred to the school psychologist before your child can be enrolled.
A screening program is planned for April 15-16. Parents will be given an appointment time for the screening during the registration process. It is important that all incoming kindergarten students are registered and screened.
