Craig Beach councilwoman, former police chief bound over to grand jury on perjury charges

Published: Wed, February 6, 2013 @ 2:39 p.m.

AUSTINTOWN — A village councilwoman and a fired police chief of Craig Beach were bound over to the Mahoning County grand jury today on perjury charges.

Councilwoman Wanda S. Sabol, 45, and former village police Chief Joseph E. Borosky, 32, were bound over by Judge David D’Apolito of Mahoning Court Area Court here after a preliminary hearing, at which both defendants testified.

The perjury charges allege they lied under oath in an August 2012 disciplinary hearing when they said that a dash cam video of a traffic stop made by Borosky contained sound, when, in fact, it did not.

Sabol and Borosky, who are each charged with one count of perjury, remain free on their own recognizance pending grand jury action.
