Case involving man charged with sexual battery headed to grand jury
AUSTINTOWN — A fired Mahoning County Juvenile Court probation officer has waived his preliminary hearing and been bound over to the county grand jury on three counts of sexual battery against a 16-year-old female student at the juvenile court-sponsored Mahoning County High School.
Judge David D’Apolito of Mahoning County Area Court here sent the case of Sherod D. Holmes Jr., 32, of South Meridian Road, to the grand jury today and ordered that Holmes be held without bond in the county jail pending further court action.
The offenses, all third-degree felonies, allegedly occurred in Austintown between September 2012 and January 2013.
The case was investigated by Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office detectives, who searched Holmes’ residence and arrested and jailed him Friday.
