Shannon Johnson of Arlington, Va., formerly of Boardman, became the bride of Joel Moss of Washington, D.C. during a wedding ceremony Aug. 11 at the Ritz-Carlton Healing Garden, Sarasota. Officiant at the 7 p.m. service was the Rev. Timothy Barlowe, the bride’s cousin.
The newlyweds received guests at a reception at The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom.
After a honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii, the couple live in Virginia.
Parents of the bride are Bob and Linda Johnson of North Port, Fla., formerly of Boardman. The groom is a son of Susan Lawton of Swansea, Mass., and the late William Moss.
The bride wore a fit and flare satin gown embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Tara (Zabel) Evans was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Katheryn Ellis; Priscilla (Moss) Bradstreet, sister of the groom; Suzy Soroka; Diana Fuller; Destinee Mormando; Mikki Mihok; Jen Discher; and Natalie Prox. The flower girl was Lynsey Deibel, a cousin of the bride.
The attendants wore gowns of various shades of purple with champagne sashes.
Al Orr performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Dan Thorsfeldt; Ryan Johnson, the bride’s brother; Josh Bradstreet, the groom’s brother-in-law; Thom Moss; Bill Murray; John Barranco; Frank Doyle; and Brad Cherevaty.
The ringbearer was Luke Minster, a cousin of the bride. Ushers were Chip Soroka, Richard Williams, Sean Miskell and Derek Prox.
The bride received a degree in management information systems from Miami University. She is a consultant for the Federal Government in Washington D.C.
The groom graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelors degree and Naval War College with a master’s degree. He earned a master of business administration from Johns Hopkins University. The groom is in market development at NJVC in Chantilly, Va., and is a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a pilot.
