Christmas cantata


The Chancel Choir, directed by Savontae Diggs, will present the Christmas cantata “Rejoice in His Coming” during the worship service at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel NW.

The church has a handicapped-accessable entrance and restroom facility.

The Rev. Glenn Hamilton is pastor.

Live nativity


First Christian Church, 17 N. Center St., will present a live nativity from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today in the parking lot.

Musical service


Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road (Route 46), will present a musical service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Christmas Eve.

The chorus program of a cappella and piano-accompanied Christmas sacred songs will end with candlelight carol singing. Prelude will be at 6:40 p.m.

The theme is “Jesus: Messiah of the World.” Live shepherds will interact with participants before and after the program by Midway Christmas Chorus. Also performing will be a children’s choir and an instrumental ensemble. Janna Hunter-Bowman will offer a brief meditation.

Christmas play


Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, will present the play “The Living Christmas Card” at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Refreshments will follow.

Special events


A children’s Christmas program will be presented at 11 a.m. Sunday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive.

Lessons and carols will be part of the service at 10 a.m. Dec. 29.

Lessons and carols


The Historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., will conduct a service of lessons and carols with the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 29.

Gospel pianist


Timothy Noble, a Gospel pianist, will play at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Dec. 29 at West Austintown United Methodist Church, 6749 Mahoning Ave.

Noble, who lives near Mount Vernon, Ohio, began taking piano lessons at 6 years old. He played in the Grand Piano Extravaganza in Indiana when he was 10. Now 14, Noble’s newest CD is “Timothy Honors America.”

Training for clergy


A training for clergy and police is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at D&E Counseling Center, 142 Javit Court.

Anita Williams, certified youth mental health first-aid instructor, will conduct the session.

The free program is supported by the Mahoning County Mental Health Board.

Museum open house


BibleWalk, a wax museum featuring religious-related figures, will conduct a Christmas open house. Free tours will be offered from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Dec. 28; closed Christmas Day.

There are four tours: Life of Christ, Miracles of the Old Testament, Museum of Christian Martyrs and Heart of the Reformation. There also is a display of rare Bibles, religious woodcarvings and animated scenes.
