McNally will retain four city Cabinet members

YOUNGSTOWN — Mayor-elect John McNally IV announced today that he is retaining four current Cabinet members when he begins his term on Jan. 1.

Staying are Water Commissioner Harry Johnson, Fire Chief John J. O’Neill Jr., Buildings and Grounds Commissioner Sean McKinney, and Finance Director David Bozanich.

Bozanich retired Dec. 28, 2012, and was rehired through the end of this year by Mayor Charles Sammarone. Bozanich will serve as finance director while a search for his replacement is conducted, McNally said. The incoming mayor said he intends to have a new finance director to city council by July 1, 2014. Council must confirm the mayor’s appointments to finance director under the city charter.

Other Cabinet appointments will be made by the first of the year, McNally said.

I don't see a police chief listed.... don't tell me Jimmy Hughes is getting the job. Is he only retaining 4 or just named 4 of who is staying so far? how about some clarification.

Rufus's Hudson explained ONeill simply a couple years back. He will keep his job as long as he delivers his union on a silver platter. Wage freezes, check, higher copay on insurance, check, reduction in manpower, check and all done without a single complaint from his people. He must really have them buffaloed. I'll go out on a limb and bet he himself has never taken a wage freeze, give back or even pays anything for his medical.

gdog . Manpower reductions were promised over a 5 year horizon , but to date , since the promise, numbers are up . This is the one of the most overmanned fire depts in Ohio . Most of the overmanning is paid for from the last income tax hike .
