Mahoning County Auditor Michael Sciortino has announced that dog owners can purchase their 2014 dog licenses now through Feb. 28.
Licenses can be obtained in person at any of the locations provided on the 2014 dog license agents list, by mail to the auditors’s office or Mahoning County Dog Warden’s Office, and through the auditor’s website, www.mahoningcountyoh.gov.
The license fee is $20. The price increases after Feb. 28.
“My staff and I have worked very hard to provide dog owners in our county an extended amount of time, as well as many convenient methods and locations, to purchase licenses in order to comply with Ohio law, which requires all dogs to be licensed,” Sciortino said.
All dogs age 3 months and older must be licensed each year.
The auditor and dog warden will work together to serve dog owners, as they share responsibilities in the licensing process.
The dog warden’s office will canvass county neighborhoods beginning in the spring to ensure all dogs have been registered.
“Please register your dog by Feb. 28 to avoid any fines and help us aid in their safe return if your dog becomes lost,” county Dog Warden Dianne L. Fry said.
