POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Dec. 4

Theft: A license plate was removed from a truck in the 600 block of Moore Street.

Harassment: A Mackey Street man said an acquaintance, a 26-year-old McDonald woman, has made 45 unsolicited calls to him.

Harassment: A Mount Everett Drive woman reported various loan companies have made about 50 unwanted daily calls to her during a two-day period.

Dec. 5

Criminal mischief: Officers received a complaint that several juveniles had tossed snowballs at a school bus at a garage in the 300 block of Hall Avenue.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Hubbard Coal and Supply, 828 N. Main St., and took an undisclosed amount of money from a cash register.

Theft: A Jerry Drive woman reported her 17-year-old son’s wallet was removed from his vehicle on Hillview Drive.

Dec. 6

Theft: A Hubbard boy, 16, was charged after an official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., alleged the teen admitted having stolen a total of $38 from two people’s wallets in a locker room.

Dec. 9

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 600 block of Jones Street, then took a nail gun, two windshield-repair kits and a tool bag. The estimated loss was $3,000.

Dec. 10

False alarm: A West Park Avenue man reportedly made a baseless complaint against an elderly tenant in his building, claiming she was making excessive noise.

LIBERTY

Dec. 5

Harassment: A worker for a business in the 900 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road said she received several such calls as well as unwanted Facebook postings.

Breaking and entering: Someone in the 1100 block of East Liberty Street broke into a motorhome, stole a surround-sound system and caused extensive damage to the home.

Dec. 6

Possible attempted arson: A Townsend Avenue woman told authorities someone poured gasoline on her apartment door. Officers found a gas can and a lighter in the hallway, and the fire department evacuated the building, a police report said.

Criminal damaging: Someone damaged part of a wall of a convenience store in the 3200 block of Belmont Avenue, apparently while trying to remove an air-conditioning unit.

Misuse of a credit card: A Mansell Drive woman at a Goldie Road store noticed two unauthorized purchases totaling $549 had been made with her debit card.

Theft: A 46-inch flat-screen TV was stolen from an apartment in the 1200 block of East Liberty Street.

Theft: A Millicent Drive woman reported her daughter’s $300 flute stolen at W.S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road.

Dec. 7

Arrest: Youngstown police apprehended 30-year-old Maurice M. Conyer of Roosevelt Drive, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging domestic violence.

Dec. 8

Identity fraud: A Church Hill Road woman discovered two unauthorized withdrawals totaling $116 had been made to her checking account.

Dec. 9

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed Brandon Bryant, 26, to township authorities. Bryant, of West LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Breaking and entering: Someone forced open a side door, broke into Joe’s Landscaping, 5000 W. Liberty St., and removed $3,000 worth of lawn and landscaping equipment, including three leaf blowers.

Trespassing: Summer E. Jackson, 28, of North Avenue, Youngstown, faced a criminal-trespassing charge after police said she was at a Frederick Street apartment, despite having been banned from the property.

Arrest: Authorities responded to a possible domestic situation on Scott Lane, where they took into custody 30-year-old David A. Keith Jr. of Scott Lane, Girard. He was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Dec. 10

Criminal damaging: Two apartment windows were broken in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive.

Robbery: Tyrell C. Surles, 26, of Harvard Street, Youngstown, was charged with robbery and possession of criminal tools after a 50-inch TV was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Surles, who police said had a knife, a pair of wire cutters and a screwdriver, struggled with two store officials who tried to detain him, a report showed.

Arrest: Campbell police handed 54-year-old James E. Ritter to township authorities. Ritter, of Market Street, Youngstown, was wanted on a Liberty warrant charging theft, criminal damaging and a probation violation.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive after the front door had been forced open. Roughly $200 worth of clothing was stolen.

GIRARD

Dec. 7

Arrest: Officers answered a disturbance call at a U.S. Route 422 grocery store, where they charged 47-year-old Matt D. Schall of Turner Road, Niles, with criminal trespassing, public intoxication and drug abuse. Schall also had two Xanex pills in his pants pocket, police said.

Criminal mischief: The driver of an all-terrain vehicle damaged a portion of a lawn in the 200 block of East Howard Street.

Harassment: A Shannon Road woman said her sister made threatening calls against the accuser and her boyfriend.

Dec. 9

Harassment: An East Second Street man told officers he has gotten 25 to 30 unwanted calls since early November.

Drugs: Suspicious activity in the 400 block of East Liberty Street caught the attention of police, who charged Dennis Mosley, 18, of West Second Street, Girard, with trafficking in marijuana. Mosley, who also was wanted on a warrant, had a bag containing seven individually wrapped bags of suspected marijuana, authorities said.

Criminal mischief: A car in the 400 block of Elruth Court was found with a broken window. Damage came to $300.

Assault: Police dealt with a disturbance in the 900 block of North Highland Avenue, where a woman reported having been struck twice with a door to a truck.

Assault: A Washington Avenue man told authorities another man came to his residence and repeatedly punched and kicked the accuser as he opened the front door. He had minor injuries.

Theft: A man and a woman took two 19-inch TVs from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 713 N. State St., and fled in a maroon 1995 Toyota vehicle.

Robbery: A man reported having been punched in the face and robbed of $80 while in the 400 block of East Kline Street.

Dec. 10

Aggravated menacing: A man reportedly called threatening to kill several people in a residence in the 20 block of West Kline Street.

Breaking and entering: One hundred feet of copper piping and a water tank were missing from a residence in the 600 block of Church Hill Road.

Assault: The owner of a car that reportedly veered off the road near Highland and Powers avenues reported having been assaulted. The victim had bruises on the back of his head.
