Reward offered for info leading to capture of murder suspect
YOUNGSTOWN — A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the capture of a man charged with a Nov. 15 homicide.
The police department and the FBI/Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force are searching for Lavelle Stanley, 24, who is charged with the killing of 25-year-old Elliott Stewart of Youngstown and the wounding of his brother, Derrick Stewart, 26.
Police believe Stanley fired the shots at a Southern Boulevard business run by the Stewart brothers. Stanley is charged with aggravated murder, attempted murder, felonious assault with firearm specifications, and being a felon in illegal possession of a firearm.
Reports said the two were shot after Elliott Stewart intervened in an argument between two women, and a man was upset he had got involved. Elliott and the man, who police say is Stanley, seemed to have their differences ironed out before the brothers were shot.
Stanley is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
Anyone with information on where Stanley might be can call the task force at 330-333-1847 or the police department’s detective bureau at 330-742-8911. All information will be strictly confidential, task force officials said.
