Elton John fans line up for tickets

Elton John fans line up for tickets

YOUNGSTOWN

A hardy handful of folks camped out all night in front of the box office of Covelli Centre in order to be first in line to buy tickets for the Feb. 1 Elton John concert.

The line had swollen to at least 100 by 9 a.m. as more buyers arrived. Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. this morning.

Roughly 6,000 seats are available for the concert, and as of noon tickets still remained on sale, according to Covelli Centre officials. The concert is being promoted by Live Nation, which does not reveal sales figures.

Demand for the concert is strong but it hasn’t matched the frenzy of Elton John’s first — and only — appearance at Covelli Centre, which was in May 2010. That concert was met by such a crush of demand that all 7,000 seats were sold in 30 minutes. It was the fastest sellout for a concert in the arena’s history.

Covelli Center director Eric Ryan said this week that Ticketmaster computers got 70,000 hits for the 2010 concert.

To purchase tickets for the Feb. 1 Elton John concert, go to Ticketmaster.com or call 800-745-3000.

And so were the Giant eagle outlets. What a load of manure. The only way to get them now is the legalized scalpers on the internet.

I bought my tickets on ticketmaster at 10:15 and my buddy got his at 10:25. Maybe you didn't realize that when ticketmaster says there is high demand and to keep trying - you have to keep trying.
