Man charged in theft of diapers

Published: Wed, December 4, 2013 @ 2:41 a.m.

James Harris III, 57, of Main Avenue Southwest was arraigned on one count of aggravated robbery after a clerk at Family Dollar, 378 Elm Road NE, accused him of threatening her with a box-cutter type knife Saturday.

An innocent plea was entered for him Monday in Warren Municipal Court, and a judge set bond at $15,000.

The clerk said Harris was trying to conceal diapers under his coat, and she approached him about it at 5:07 p.m.

That’s when Harris “pulled” the knife, according to a police report. Harris was arrested a short distance from the store and had two knives in his possession. The clerk identified him as the man in question.

Diapers = drugs in The Valley. Also synonymous: steaks, baby formula, electronics, Newport cigarettes. All worthy trading post items.........

Yep, we all know the equation, and the knives/boxcutter yells "professional shoplifter" but the way things go, he'll claim they were for his babymama and someone, in this season of giving, will give him/them money, a house, a nice car, etc, etc, while others like me hate having to get foodstamps and benefits but have been trying to find honest work for quite some time and do not steal, even if I am hungry and thought I could rationalize/legitimize it.

Still too proud to beg, still too many morals to steal. What's one to do nowadays?
