Kent State reaccredited
Kent State University Health Services has been reaccredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The AAAHC develops standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality care and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education and research.
The three-year accreditation recognizes that the quality of care Kent State University Health Services provides to its patients meets nationally recognized standards set by the AAAHC, and it is determined by an independent, external evaluation process.

Free seminar on dementia
A free educational seminar, “Inside Dementia,” is offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Canyon View Room, Damascus Friends Church, 28857 Walnut St., by Dr. Jeffrey Cohen, family practice physician.
He will provide information on symptoms, causes, types, treatment and prevention methods of Dementia. Light refreshments will be served.

Dentist loan applications
The Ohio Department of Health is accepting applications for the Ohio Dentist Loan Repayment Program. The application deadline is Dec. 31. For information, call Dean E. Soroka at 330-747-9551, ext. 77151.
General and pediatric dentists are eligible to apply if they are working full time in a federally designated dental health professional shortage area. The program is available to those who commit to working two or more years for a Federally Qualified Health Center or other approved site. With continued service, qualified dentists may be able to pay off all of their student loans.
Santa photo sessions for Autism Society
The Autism Society of Ohio, Mahoning Valley is collaborating with Southern Park Mall in Boardman and Eastwood Mall in Niles to offer private holiday photo sessions with a trained Santa Claus in an environment set up to support the sensory, physical and other needs of children and young adults with special needs.
The sessions are: Caring Santa South, Southern Park Mall concourse, 7:30 to 9 a.m. Sunday; and Caring Santa North, Eastwood Mall concourse, 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 15. The event is free and a variety of professional photo packages will be available for purchase through the standard photo operator.
